Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity has many real life applications. Generally based on the speed of light being a constant, Einstein then applied that theory to real life scenarios. I’m not a scientist, so please forgive me for my rookie interpretations. I’m positive, however, that you’ll agree with the J Nap theory of relativity.
One of the Einstein observations is called time dilation. Time dilation is when something is moving very fast, your recollection of it seems to slow it down. Think of a horrific situation you may have faced, such as an auto crash. It may have happened in a micro second, yet as you reflect on it you start to see things in slow motion.
The opposite of this is length contraction. When you are moving fast, like a ride on the high speed Acela train, objects seem to be closer than they actually are.
Then comes the J Nap theory of relativity. This laymen’s interpretation of Einstein’s theory has to do with the passage of your life. Nearly everyone has used the expression that “time flies”. Think of how many times you’ve already heard how fast the summer of ’25 is passing by. We also use it when we see children growing up, graduating from college or catching up with friends that you haven’t seen in years.
The J Nap theory proves mathematically that time does indeed pass quicker as you age. The math goes like this.
When you hear your 7 year old complain how long a year is when pondering their next birthday, they are correct. Based on their relative time line, 1/7 of their life is a big number.
Then you go to your friends 70th birthday party, and everyone exclaims how fast if went and that they still feel (or at least act and think) like a 30 year old. And for their relative timeline, they are correct. 1/70 is a lot smaller than 1/7, and appears to have passed in the blink of an eye.
If this proves one thing it is this. We all need to focus on today. Make it the best you can. Naturally every day cannot be wine and roses… some are working on health issues, some family issues and others figuring out the next chapter of their life. But please use this day in the best way possible to bring you some joy… find something positive. Because one fact about the J Nap theory of relativity is that next year will feel as if it has passed faster than this year.
Smile. We love you!
