Twenty-four to thirty-six months ago I would have argued that we were in the midst of the golden age of Schulte Family vacations. We had ten fun-loving individuals all above the age of twenty-one who thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Our days were spent on the beach and our nights were spent playing games to the wee hours of the morning with the occasional margarita or two. Fast forward to now – this very second – as I balance typing words while applying sunscreen to my deeply disturbed and combative niece, Asha, now two years old. In another room, Asha’s newborn brother, Shubho is creating quite the mess…..we will leave it at that.

Times have certainly changed. The island sounds of Jimmy Buffet have evolved to the ballads of Sesame Street and an extra swim diaper is more valuable than a cooler full of Coronas—a fact I am still struggling with. But change is good and adding to our bench will only make us a stronger, more interesting team. Here are a few of the highlights from our time at Lake Ontario so far:
