Halloween is creeping up on us, and while we’re busy crunching numbers, we can’t resist the allure of candy! Here’s what our team loves to indulge in when the office gets a little spooky.

Alex: Peanut M&Ms for the win! That said, this might be the hardest article to write – anything with a combination of chocolate, nuts, and peanut butter makes the top of my list. And it is just a little healthy, right? According to USA Today, it is the healthiest mainstream candy option! The peanuts are good for you, but maybe not the quantity I ate them as a kid.

Tom F.: As a kid, I was a big fan of the classic Halloween candy bars like Milky Ways and Three Musketeers. But about 15 years ago I made the switch to Almond Joy. There’s just something about combination and texture of coconut, chocolate and almonds that just… works!! It’s interesting though: I’ve done informal polling around the office (tis the season) and seemingly nobody else shares my enthusiasm. The good thing is that means more candy for me when the leftovers arrive!

Tom S.: Starbursts, specifically pink starbursts are the best Halloween candy in my humble opinion. However, I have a deep and growing fear of a sticky candy yanking a tooth out! I’ll limit myself to two pink starbursts this year…

Rob: For years I was a Reese’s fan – the combination of chocolate and peanut butter could do no wrong in my mind.  However, I think I am turning a corner – perhaps I have had one too many dry peanut butter cups and the allure is waning.  Now I crave something with a little more kick.  A salty-sweet treat with peanuts and caramel – PAYDAY!

Yoyo: Throwback to our family annual tradition of paying a visit to Beacon Hill’s Halloween Trick or Treat where families put their best effort in their exterior decoration. My siblings & I are always looking forward to getting the “big candies”. My personal favorites are Reese’s or Cookies n’ Crème Hershey’s.

Dante: Years ago, my dad introduced me to 100 Grand Bars, and they have been a great candy change up to the typical Reese’s or Twix bars. We would regularly drive into the North End and park at a garage that would validate parking for a dollar or two. We would typically “forget” to have the restaurant validate the parking ticket, being forced to stop at the convenience store right below the parking garage for our dessert of 100 Grand Bars. Also, it makes sense that one of my favorite candies is named after money…

Nick: I’m more of a savory/salty guy myself, so come Halloween, I have to go with something that is salty and sweet. My favorite has to be a chocolate covered potato chip. It sounds odd, but if you are looking for something salty, sweet and crunchy you have to give it a try!

Laura: York peppermint patties, preferably from the freezer. And since it’s been brought to my attention that my runner-up (candy corn) is wildly unpopular, I felt I should include it in solidarity with my fellow candy corn lovers! Little did I know the nostalgic favorite would be so polarizing…
