The warm weather seems to be here to stay in Massachusetts, finally. And with that comes what all people my age (26) has this time of year, weddings.

My girlfriend, Liz, and I went to our first wedding of the year this past week. Her best friend was getting married at The Grandview in Milford. It was a beautiful venue overlooking a small lake with stone architecture and a fountain in the center of the ceremony area where the bride and groom walked down the aisle. They had chosen colors of gray, white, and lavender (I thought it was purple but was quickly corrected that purple would have been too harsh and lavender was a much softer color…. of course, how silly of me). The ceremony was fantastic and the speeches after were short and sweet from everyone, a miracle.

Now for the most important part, the food. Everyone knows at weddings the food is always hit or miss, and even when it hits, there is a different scale for wedding food. To my delight the food was simple and fantastic, they had some steak, chicken, and mushroom ravioli that I loved. And with the open bar flowing, everyone was having a good time.

This was on the smaller side in terms of people, maybe around 125. A more reserved and intimate affair than I’ve come used to. Which was a nice change of pace for me. My family is from NYC and Jersey and small and reserved are not words in their vocabulary. The smallest wedding I have been to previously be the fifth one of my cousins to do so and had at least 225 people. So you can imagine my surprise and enjoyment of not tripping over too many people on the dance floor, and not having to wait too long at the open bar.

All-in-all it was a great night with good food and even better people; I’m looking forward to the next 3 I have on the calendar later this year.
