Things around the office have kicked into high gear as we enter the final stretch of 2025. There are year-end meetings, taxes to be dealt with, and so on…don’t get me wrong, I really do love what I do. And I’m the kind of guy who thrives on a jam-packed to-do list. But a crisp fall day with my two girls and nowhere to rush off to? There’s nothing better.

Fall in New England is something to behold. How lucky are we to have this kind of foliage and apple picking farms right around the corner? A few weekends ago, Ashley and I took the girls to Lookout Farm in Natick. Once we got over the price of picking apples ourselves, Natalie and Holly ran off to grab the first apples they could see. That is, of course, until they ran by the apple cider donut stand…who can blame them. Several bushels of apples, a few rogue pears and a trunk full of pumpkins later, we had made the best of the day.

We’re headed into that time of year where the candy binge starts and will not stop until we all have our New Years resolutions in January. That said, the annual apple obsession in our house is a welcome one. Turns out you can cut them into skinny strips, re-name them ‘apple fries’ and get a month’s worth of enthusiasm around eating apples! Big win. A simple way to cut an everyday food has turned into a staple at mealtime since this trip.

Another great (and relatively simple) local adventure we’ve taken recently was to TopGolf in Canton, MA. I had very low expectations for this because our girls have never seen or showed interest in golf… all they knew was that Dad loves it. We gave it a shot anyway. They wound up surprising us all with a few decent swings! Check out that follow-through in the pictures below. The kids had such a good time that Holly begged me to take her back the next day – of course, I said yes. We spent the next day hitting golf balls for over an hour, just the two of us.

So as we dive into another packed season of client meetings on weekdays and pumpkin patches on weekends, I’m feeling incredibly thankful. These are the days we’ll look back on one day and miss. I hope you’re finding a little time to enjoy this season too. If there’s anything on your financial to-do list before the holidays hit full stride, now’s a great time to connect.

Until next time…
