Yes, that’s right everyone; Deidre and I are expecting twins! We are overjoyed to share the news. Before you ask, since it’s the first question most people have: Deidre has twin aunts on her mother’s side of the family. Still, Deidre and I were shocked to be the ones carrying on the family tradition. And honestly, we’re thrilled to be the lucky pair!
Deidre is currently 22 weeks pregnant and has found her groove in the second trimester. Thankfully, she’s doing well and has her energy back after a rough first trimester. Little did we know that morning sickness starting at week four was a sign of two babies on the way! It stuck around until her 17th week, but she made it through like a champ.
As for the babies themselves, we’re blessed to be having a girl and a boy, exactly what we had hoped for! Both babies are doing great, healthy and right on track with their growth. We’d always talked about wanting at least two kids. Deidre was an only child for six years growing up, and she didn’t want her first to go through that. Well, she certainly got her wish!
One thing worth knowing: twin pregnancies typically don’t go the full 40 weeks. The doctor confirmed Deidre won’t go past the 38-week mark, which puts us at late November. Coincidentally, that’s the same month her twin aunts were born.
So chances are I’ll be on leave from late November through December. I know the rest of the Napier team will help pick up the slack! In the meantime, send any and all twin advice our way!
