As some of you may already know, my fiancé Gabe and I are planning a wedding in Italy later this year. We were engaged on the Amalfi Coast last summer and thought, why not convince our closest friends and family to take a trip to arguably one of the most magical places to exist, and get married while we are at it?! I mean, who could pass up the opportunity for some incredible food, amazing wine, and a celebration in such a beautiful place??

If you know anything about wedding planning, you know it comes with no shortage of big and small tasks, decisions, time, and (at times) stress – especially being in another country. Shoutout to our amazing wedding planners that are helping to make it happen. I recently joked with the office saying “if I say I am stressed, just remind me I did this to myself” because I can’t seem to sit still despite my desire to slow down and relax. It’s one of the many lovely qualities I get from my mother…

Well sure enough, a few short weeks (or days) after making that comment to everyone in the office, I decided to add one more thing onto my plate.

Gabe and I saw an 1890’s multi-family overlooking a park in South Boston pop on the market and decided on a whim to put in an offer. Mind you, knowing we would have a big construction project ahead of us if our offer was accepted. With both of us being financial planners and Gabe’s family being in the real estate investment world, we always dreamt of owning a multi-family. When this opportunity came up, we could not pass on it despite the big year we have ahead.

Somehow, someway, we made it happen. We closed on the property this past week.

It is not lost on me how challenging it is for my generation to get into the housing market. I honestly thought it would be years before we could buy a property of our own because of the stories I hear. And while we know there’s a lot of work (and probably a few surprises) ahead with our plans for the property, we’re incredibly excited about the potential of this house. My love for interior design and obsession with Pinterest is finally getting its time to shine!

All in all, I am feeling very grateful for the opportunity, for the perspective this gives me both personally and professionally, and for the chance to put into practice the concepts I talk through with many of you.

Now…let’s get to work. We’ve got a big project ahead of us.
