We asked our team to share their favorite dishes that make Thanksgiving with loved ones extra special! What is your favorite dish to make or eat? Reply and let us know!

Alex: So many great choices here, and this changes with time. However, my wonderful wife Ashley makes this butternut squash soup for a first course that tastes delicious, warms the soul, and importantly sets the stage for the perfect bite (which if you read last week’s article, you know!). What takes this dish over the top are her homemade croutons with a touch of garlic to soak up all the greatness.

Tom S.: My mom has mastered the Sweet Potato Pie. A sweet tooth has been passed down genetically throughout my family and caramelized sweet potatoes just aren’t sweet enough! To cope, my mom’s recipe includes a lightly roasted top layer of mini marshmallows that provide a slight crunch before a gushy, glorious bite.

John: My favorite dish to make is the plate in front of me. The only problem is that with so many sides it takes more than one trip to try them all.  My favorite dish to eat, Pumpkin Pie… after the dinner food coma wears off.

Rob: The allure of thanksgiving is the fantastic fashion in which everything comes together.  Unfortunately, it is not every day you get to spend time with close and extended family under one roof.  I think about a thanksgiving plate the same way – there is always room for one more side and it all collides in a beautiful way.  To that end it is hard to pick ONE favorite, but I do love the combination of a sweet and salty masterpiece.  Sweet potatoes with salt, butter, and a pinch of brown sugar are what I look forward to most.

Dante: I’m always a fan of stuffing when it comes to Thanksgiving meals. What makes the stuffing even better is my Nonna’s gravy. Her gravy is made from scratch with the drippings from the turkey and the roasted onions – hits the spot every time. Perfect way to ease yourself into a food coma on the couch watching football.

Nick: My family always has a turkey AND a ham for Thanksgiving, and I have to say I prefer the spiral honey baked ham. It’s sweet and salty, just how I like it. After dinner, it’s my Nana’s famous Pumpkin Pie. She would always make 2 of them and I would always do my best to try and hide the second one for myself (unsuccessfully, unfortunately).

Yoyo: Since my family doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving (as we’re Chinese and it’s not part of our tradition), this holiday becomes extra special when I get to celebrate it with friends for Friendsgiving. I always look forward to enjoying mashed potatoes and buttered corn on the side! With some Mac & Cheese of course!

Laura: A Thanksgiving feast is truly leveled-up, in my opinion, by 1 simple thing: cranberry sauce. Homemade, canned, gourmet, spicy…I don’t discriminate. Of course, buttery mashed potatoes will always have their designated quarter of the plate (underneath scoops of cranberry sauce.)

Adam: No matter what ends up on my Thanksgiving plate, the showstopper is always the gravy. Good gravy covers up sins in & out of the kitchen. Smother your plate and slip into a post dinner nap. When you wake up, it’s Egg Nog season, and Jeff Morgenthaler’s Tequila & Sherry recipe leaves nothing to be desired.

Carrie: My absolute favorite dish to eat is my dad’s mashed potatoes with gravy!  He always makes them perfect – so creamy and no lumps!!
