This weekend Jenna and I were lucky enough to spend a few days in Wolfeboro, NH at her family’s lake house on Lake Winnipesaukee. It has been in the family for 50 years, and it is her favorite place on earth. Having spent countless weekends here with her family, cousins, aunts and uncles, her grandparents, and friends, the memories always bring a smile to her face. Lake days are lived to the fullest. The fun goes from sunrise to sunset while tubing, waterskiing, jumping off the dock, paddling in a canoe, and sunset cruising with loved ones on the pontoon boat – it is quite literally everything you would hope a lake house can be.
We see the same passion in our kids, and they look forward to these weekends with such enthusiasm. We were lucky enough to invite all of their Nap cousins to join us for an unseasonably warm November weekend the last few days and everyone had a blast. We fit in every activity possible – Fishing, playing on the beach, playgrounds, the yum yum shop, and movies after the sun sets. The kids even went for a quick dip!
I have to give credit where credit is due – without an organized system and cadence this beautiful opportunity would probably not have stood the test of time. Her family has done a wonderful job of maintaining the “rules of the road” so to speak. It works incredibly well with more than 20 families that enjoy it year in and year out. All of whom reflect on the same endearing memories as Jenna, and hopefully someday our kids can do the same.
